Today the Office of the Attorney General certified the Arkansas Abortion Amendment put forward by Arkansans for Limited Government.

Here’s what that means:

It’s time to fight. It’s time to be courageous. It’s time to work

We have until July 5, 2024 to collect 90,704 signatures across the state to ensure this amendment gets on the November ballot. That’s a monumental task, but we have no doubt that with your help, we can do it. We will do it

So here’s what we need from you in the coming days:

  1. Donate as much as you can. We know that times are tight, but your financial support will be key to reaching every corner of Arkansas. This will be a long fight, and we want to be as prepared as possible. Financial support helps the ballot question committee:
    • Organize and maintain our field operation to collect signatures;
    • Fund media buys and other advertisements to get the word out to all Arkansans; and
    • Create funds for the fall campaign to reach voters and persuade them to vote for the amendment.
  2. Pledge to sign the petition. If you have already pledged to sign, we’ll reach out to you to ensure a volunteer coordinates to collect your signature. If you haven’t yet signed up via arliberty.org, please do so now.
  3. Volunteer your time. Join the dedicated, hardworking team at AFLG and be a part of the change you want to see in our state. The committee will have many volunteer opportunities that everyone can participate in: collecting signatures, spreading awareness, organizing events and fundraisers, or assisting with outreach, we have something you can do! We want this to be a movement made up of Arkansans of every stripe.
  4. Talk about the amendment and share our content. Talk with family, friends, coworkers, peers, the person next to you in line at the grocery store. Spread the word as much as you can. This is where the rubber meets the road, friends. Follow on Instagram, X, Facebook, Youtube, Tiktok, and share our content. We need as many people as possible to see what’s at stake here

So what’s coming next?

As we said, we have until July 5 to gather over 90,000 signatures from across Arkansas to ensure the amendment will appear on the ballot in November. This will require organization, money, and people hours to get those signatures. Optimistically, because of the way the Secretary of State counts acceptable signatures, we’ll likely need roughly double the minimum number of signatures to be sure we’ve cleared the threshold. That’s almost 200,000 signatures. By the end of today our field operation will have kicked into gear, but we will need to sustain those operations for five months. That’s where donations and volunteering come in.

Once we’ve cleared the signature barrier – and we will – we move into campaigning for the amendment. Our operations will shift toward messaging, persuasion, and Get Out the Vote. We’ll have another five months, give or take, to persuade Arkansas voters that we need this amendment and that we need it now

And then, on November 5, 2024, we will vote to protect abortion rights in Arkansas.

Friends, we can’t tell you how excited we are for the future and how grateful we are for your support

Have courage for the work to come.

Now, let’s get it done.
