LITTLE ROCK – In light of the onslaught of #Arleg voter suppression bills, For AR People invites Arkansans to stand up for voting rights and against voter suppression. For AR People and partner grassroots organizations are hosting a “Save AR Democracy” rally on the Capitol steps Tuesday, April 6th at noon.

Every Arkansan should be able to easily exercise their fundamental right to vote, and lawmakers should work to ensure protections for every voter– not make voting harder. Instead, our state leaders are upset over losing a House seat in Pulaski County and are pushing legislation disguised as “election integrity” bills. In reality, these bills are about election control and voter suppression. Arkansans see through these “election integrity” bills and know these efforts will make it harder for certain community members to vote.

We call on legislators to stop spreading misinformation about the integrity of our elections. We demand that our lawmakers protect the right of every voter to make their voice heard from the ballot box. For AR People urges anyone who wants to protect the vote to join us on the steps of the Capitol. Stand up for voting rights.

Unless our state leaders stand up for voting rights and against voter suppression, Arkansas will continue to flounder in civic participation and voter turnout. We can and must do better.

About For AR People: Arkansas’s state motto is “The People Rule.” But for too long, many of our state politicians have been operating in the shadows, prioritizing the interests of the wealthy and powerful over interests of the people. They put partisanship and deep-pocket campaign donors ahead of us, the voters.

This is our state. We are fighting back.

For AR People is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advances a responsible democracy in Arkansas by educating the public about issues that impact our daily lives and holding politicians accountable. We provide opportunities for Arkansans to speak up for their values like transparency and accountability in state government and build a stronger state that works for everyone.
