Pulaski County Election Commission, time to stand up and do the same.

On Monday afternoon, the Washington County Election Commission unanimously denied a request from the Trump Department of Justice to allow federal election monitors inside county polling places, citing at least two reasons:

  1. A lack of proper prior notice; and
  2. A lack of “any logical reason.”

Eighteen residents of Washington County spoke against allowing the feds inside polling places, noting that the DOJ provided no information about what kind of training these monitors had received and that Washington County elections are known for being safe, secure, and efficient.

It was a real pleasure to see county officials standing up for what’s right, and the residents who packed the room agreed. It’s moments like this one that make you proud to be an independent-minded Arkansan. We trust our own neighbors, and we take care of our own business.

Pulaski County’s Turn

The DOJ said it would send monitors to both Washington and Pulaski Counties. With Washington voting the right way, it’s time for Pulaski County to follow suit.

The Pulaski County Election Commission meets Thursday, October 29, at 7:00 PM at the Pulaski County Regional Building. The address is 501 W Markham St, Little Rock, AR 72201.

We encourage residents of Pulaski County to show up and make their voices heard: no feds inside our polling locations. Our elections should be managed by the folks that live here, not Trump’s Department of Justice.

If you want to mitigate the risk of encountering federal officials while voting, experts recommend voting early if you’re able!

If you’re unable to attend in person, we recommend sending emails to the commissioners firmly, but respectfully, requesting that the Pulaski County Election Commission vote against allowing federal election monitors inside polling places.

Dear Commissioner [Name],

My name is [your name], a resident and voter of Pulaski County. I’m writing to ask you to vote against allowing federal election monitors inside polling places within the county.

The Arkansas Secretary of State says our elections are extremely secure. Outsiders coming in at this late date may confuse and intimidate voters. It may make our well-trained poll workers afraid or unable to accomplish their duties. At worst, it may cause actual election interference by intimidating voters into not voting. I’m asking you to protect our elections and stand against this interference from the federal government.

Pulaski County has some of the smoothest elections in the country, and our poll workers are the best. Keep our elections in the hands of the state, where it belongs, and not the Department of Justice.

Sincerely, [your name]
